To celebrate the last official day of my holiday, me and Emppu rented Underworld. She thought Van Helsing was better, I disagreed. Although I have to say that if something's better than Van Helsing, it's not saying much.. :)

Though it was most entertaining to watch Underworld having just seen Love, Actually. Bill Nighy. Hmm. He's done a lot of things in 2003, I notice.

I still don't really care for Kate Beckinsale. For some reason she annoys me. Surprisingly neutral in Underworld, though.

And still: what's with all the leather???

I re-registered to Caritas last week and now I can't keep myself away from the place. Unfortunately the threads aren't as active as.. let's say in the best days of the bb.n forum. Now, those were the days. You could go there and post in bazillion threads, and do the same after a few hours.

I'm just way too lazy to start new threads myself. But maybe it's for the better. Soon I won't have so much spare time in my hands anyway.

Dentist appointment at 9am tomorrow. Gah! And heaps of work things to do. Busy day. Mainly because I spent this day doing nothing. Will I ever learn?

Oh bugger. It turns out the BuffyCruise thingie I was planning to attend happens at the same time with Puistoilmiö. Blagh.

I wouldn't care about Puistoilmiö too much, I doubt it'll be anything too spectacular, but I've been there every year so it's a sort of a traditon already (and as we live so close to the park, my friends wouldn't probably too easily forgive me for losing the loo nearby :p). Then again, the cruise would be fun. I haven't been able to attend any of the FinBuffy meetings yet because I've always been either completely broke (like last Saturday) or had previous engagements elsewhere.

Blast.

I really want to go. But considering the financial side, the cruise would cost me about 300 euros (the money I lose for taking three days off of work combined with what I have to pay for the trip and food etc). If I stay here, I'll probably only spend about 20 euros (if I choose to do so) and can go to work normally.

300 euros. That's a new CD player. Or food for three months. Six train rides from Joensuu to Riihimäki and back. A lot of new clothes. 15 new CDs. 6 BtVS DVD box sets. Or the BuffyCruise. Aaaaa!

Woke up before 6am and couldn't sleep. So for two hours I watched the MTV3 date chat I taped last night and felt like a complete looney. What I wouldn't do for my friends.. But I swear, if another another friend of mine becomes a chat host, I will not bother. This one is enough.

Passed poetry. Brain brain.

Edit: Well yay! My bike died during our bike trip in 2001. Since then I've gone without one and the past year I've been really complaining about it. And tadah! I just learnt that Jussi had fixed the bike, which everyone thought was unrepairable, two years ago - nobody just remembered to tell me! And now somehow it is my fault that I didn't miraculously know about it. Now, apparently, I have a bike after all. I just wonder why this never came up during the past month when I've been wondering where to get one for the summer. Gah. The information channels just do not work in this household.

Argh! Late night complaint post.
1) Milla just informed me that Valio has sold its ice cream and the brand to Nestlé. Like Nestlé didn't own enough already.
2) Blogger's being an arse.
3) Please tell me this is just a rumour! I don't think any kind of re-make would be necessary. There's already been the BBC series AND Bridget Jones in the recent years.

I feel like my brains are coming out of my ears and my eyes are slowly turning into liquid and running down my cheeks.

Too much telly today. Way too much. But I couldn't help it. I got this splendid idea to watch the Pride and Prejudice mini series (yes, again - probably because I wrote about it in an e-mail to Emily not too long ago) and like it always happens, I couldn't stop. So I watched all six episodes today.

I did eat and do some KTN related work in between. And entertained Milla for about half an hour. And updated some of the fanlistings. So the six-hour task turned into a nine-hour one. Exhaustion.

And once again Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy - or Colin Firth, I don't care - holds my heart. Baergh. The fact the me and Milla rented Love, Actually yesterday doesn't help too much. :| Oh well, this'll pass in a few days. I've got "some" experience of that.

Absolutely no telly tomorrow. Apart from Sex and the City, naturally.

The off-topic conclusion: Woo. I've been linked.

After this morning's sandwich grill experiments, I can say that although the sandwiches may taste good, it's one complicated apparatus. Easy to clean. Right...

This one friend of a friend of mine once said that when she's drunk she's the same - but more. That applies for me too. I've always known that but yesterday was the best proof yet.

I don't know what happened. We were just sitting in my room, drinking wine and cider and whatever anyone had, not too fast even, chatting and making lists of potential summer boyfriends for fun (and what depressingly short lists they were for some of us, ahem) and suddenly the bunch of us just realised we're terribly drunk. Except for Emmu who was just very tired and slightly tipsy.

So off to the bar we went, after laughing our arses off for about half an hour because some eedjit (yes, that would be me) tried to take a picture with the camera the wrong way round. And once we got to the bar, I couldn't shut up. What a pain in the ass I must've been.. "Hey, I've met him once three years ago, we must catch up!!" I honestly talked to everyone I've ever met and who happened to be present.

But didn't touch my mobile! Apart from the one message I sent to myself because there was something I needed to remember once I got home. I am improving. Soon I'll be able to go out without even having the stupid phone with me :)

It bothers me a bit that once we left our place, I didn't see Tiina and Katri almost at all. I had't seen them for ages and it was actually really nice to see them. But maybe the "picnic" of four hours in the afternoon and the three hours before going to the bar makes up for it.

Friday was fun as well. I can't even remember when I've last danced the good old humppa (and could I suck any more? ought to dance more, I'm forgetting everything). I owe Atso for asking me. Heh.

And apparently I have a (rather unwelcome) fan. Oh dear lord.

Sweet. Jesus.
I'm about to cry. But how joyful tears they would be, indeed. Way to go, Mikko! He's in. He deserves it, no one can deny that. He's got the talent and he's worked hard. The best news of the week, definitely.

For those who haven't got a clue what I'm talking about, it doesn't matter. I am happy, that's the main point.

Other than that, Van Helsing has been seen. I just wonder how pissed off they must be.. they have this great idea, wonderful vision and then it turns out to be plain crap. It was very entertaining, yes, but a good film? Never.

David Wenham's sweet but I don't usually like the goofball characters. And Richard Roxburgh looks too much alike Gary Oldman. I think they should've gone with a different kind of look. I do like Richard and he did a good job. Even with that accent. But the appereance.. gaaah.

And what's with all the leather?

Spoiler, sort of:
If people knew hundreds of years ago that only werewolf could kill Dracula, why leave a moving painting with hints instead of painting the words "only a werewolf can kill the guy"?

Also, left-hand of God? Give me a break.

I'm sure I'll have an angry mob following me after this post but whatever.. I didn't like the film. I think it was pointless. You watch it once but the second time would be too much. The whole thing was just waste of talent. And money.

What?
I think I just agreed to take care of the buffet (or at least take part in it) of this year's summer play again. Damn it! After last summer I swore I wouldn't do it this year.

"But Johnny Depp 21 Jump Street era? *tsk tsk* Nope, I'll vote for Le-oh then..."

Ok, I admit it, I didn't think this through.. Had I done it, I probably would've remembered such gems as Nightmare on Elmstreet (that shirt!) or Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas :)

But that's what makes master Depp so cool. He can be way un-cool. Or ugly even. And still be cool. You know what I mean. More things that make master Depp so cool: he plays Willy Wonka in Tim Burton's version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Cannot wait to see it.

And some more serious teenybopping (my blog, no apologies presented, HA!): Saw Sean Bean on telly for about a second today and really understood it.
Must. See. Troy.
There's no alternative. This is rather embarrassing.. but what can you do? With the hair and beard, it was clearly a Boromir look. And who can resist that? Not me. :|

Grown-up stuff:
Signed some papers concerning the new job today. Forgot to take my tax info and things, whatever it is you officially call that stuff, so I need to go back next week. Doesn't matter really, the guy I'll be working with seemed alright. I also got 11 pages of info in Finnish and Swedish (well, yay..) so I wouldn't be completely clueless when I start. Now all I need to do is to learn everything there is to know about the first steps of the old iron industry. But I'll start with those 11 pages. Shouldn't be too hard, I've got two more weeks to do it.

Should just snap out of this extremely flegmatic state somehow.

Couldn't find any cherry pepsi when we went food shopping today. I am gutted.

It's a good thing me and Suvi have both got the "free" text message service. Some exchange of the day.

Hanna: I found this old music video tape. It has several versions of Westlife's If I Let You Go and Flying Without Wings! And Seasons In the Sun once..
Hanna: And Fool Again appears as well! Should've seen it coming, I should've read the signs, anyway...
Suvi: I'm watching Romeo and Juliet. Oh, Leonardo is just so cute!
Hanna: I watched it a while back too. Leonardo is ok, but Mercutio rules -> GORGEOUS!
Suvi: Nothing beats the young Leonardo.
Hanna: Some do. Like Mercutio, BSB of the Millenium era, Johnny Depp of any era.
Suvi: Well, ok, some beat him but not many. What a clever sentence again.

For some reason I felt an urgent need to share that conversation.

But the tape I found really was a killer. Music videos from 1999 mostly, I think. Lots of good old pop videos (like Larger Than Life.. what is Howie supposed to be in it??). And way too many S Club 7 performances.. All I can do is wonder.

Is it just me or does the Ubervamp from season 7 of Buffy look suspiciously like the Mutant Enemy logo, ie the "Grr. Argh." monster?

Honestly.

Speaking of Buffy, I might as well have another nerd moment.
I wish Andrew hadn't killed Jonathan. I miss him already and it was only a few episodes ago. And, not really relating to the topic that was Andrew and Jonathan, I love this site.

Nerd moment over. Jaakko and I shared a good nerd moment last Wednesday actually. We sat in Rosso and talked about all the nerdy things we know just so I'd make it through the summer. Or even the picnic me and the girls are having next Saturday. It is an occassion where absolutely no "What did they do the graphics with? Photoshop 4.0?? HAHAHAA!" jokes are allowed.

But Jaakko told me that I can send him emergency text messages saying "nerd nerd" whenever I feel like it. It's good to know that. He already sent me one last night after 1am saying that leatherpants people rule. And isn't that nice? Of course me being very much asleep (yes, on a Saturday night, go me!), I had no idea he was referring to the Eurovision song contest winner.

Jussi moved all his things from my room to mum & Jussi's bedroom for the summer. As I didn't bring any furniture with me, it's now a vast, empty space. With echo. Not that I really miss Jussi's belongings but I really need to figure out what to do with the room. But right now, I'm too tired to think.

All I want to do is make cookies. And that will happen tomorrow.

ps. "Says the v.v.mature person who still, in the ripe age of 25 shoots birds with fingers while making a Startrekian laser-gun sound... "

Who doesn't? :) Or don't know about shooting birds. But the gun, hell yeah.

Erm. What's happened to Blogger? It looks so very different. But maybe we'll manage.

I just pulled the worst teen-stunt. I was feeling like shit and suddenly this song that always makes me feel very energetic was on radio. The next thing I knew I was jumping around the room and singing along at the top of my lungs. Woo. But it worked. I feel a tad bit better.

My room looks so naked.. I've packed most of the things I'm taking with me and hid the rest in my closet so they wouldn't collect too much dust during the summer. But it's only this evening I have to spend in this strange space. Milla will be here tomorrow and we'll leave Thursday morning. Where did all my spare time go?

Completely fucked up the poetry exam, I think. I would've know a lot of technical facts but I've never really been the one really to analyze the content, theme or hidden meanings of poems. And that's what the whole exam was really about.

It also appeared that we should've signed up for the exam. Three people out of the approximately 70 of us actually did that (and one of them didn't show up). Apparently the orange peels in Ken's trash bin have more brains than we do :) Har.

Finland keeps getting smaller and smaller. It turns out that Virpi's new boyfriend Mikko and Esa's little brother Mikko are the same person. I don't know who's got more troubles understanding it, me or Virpi. But anyway, it's only 500 kilometres and 3 -6 different towns involved in this little picture. Hardly a coninsidence. :p

Aerh! Darned CD player, why can't you work with me???

I know I only have to be without a CD player for another week, but the radio stations are driving me insane. I've heard the new Lordi single so many times it's not even funny. And if I get a wild idea to switch from Suomipop to any other channel, I can't avoid hearing Antti Tuisku, which is definitely worse.

So, trying to forget Lordi, I'm sticking with Suomipop. Sometimes they play good songs. Like now. Lemonator: California.

ps. I am fully aware of the fact both my DVD player and computer play CDs but the sound quality is even worse than with mum's CD player, which I am entitled to use for the whole summer. So, radio it is.

When I popped outside for a few hours after 11am it was raining. Naturally now, when I'm inside trying to read for the poetry exam, sun is shining and there are no clouds in sight. Hurrah.

After the exam while we were waiting for Heidi I was rehearsing this particular kick I can do with my right leg but for some unknown reason not with my left.

Kari: So, are you all planning to stay here? Like next year and further?
Hanna: For now.
Jaakko: Right.
Suvi: Well, I'm trying Tampere again but probably end up staying here.
Kari: I was just wondering if this is the sort of thing we need to watch through the rest of our studies..

Har. What does he care?
But I told him that whether we all stay here or not, it is very unlikely that I will change.

Through the whole exam, my head was absolutely blank. No songs or extra thoughts wandering around. Then suddenly somewhere between paragraphs four and five: "LOVE IS RIGHT NOOOOOW!"
Hanna: No! Shoo! Jonne Aaron, be gone!

Then it disappeared. But it was fairly amusing. I blame Suvi for it though. She sang it in the morning while we were waiting for the bus. Of course the fact I was mentioned the song first had nothing to do with her singing.

Oh poo. I was downloading this song 4455kb and in a few seconds I got up to 4063kb. Then it stopped and won't start again. Stupid Kazaa Lite.

I feel like I am most unprepared for the written exam tomorrow. The whole day it's been like "oooo, Rika's got a new 6 degrees challenge, I'll give that a few minutes, and really, everyone knows watching the last episode of BBC's David Copperfield is way more important than revising!"

Actually, normally David Copperfield would've been more important but this is a video. Which I've seen too many times.

If the exam doesn't kill me, Heidi, Suvi and me are going to Delizia afterwards. Woo. I've never been there but I hear they have good pasta. I can't really afford it but who cares? It was money day today.

I think I just heard the third ambulance of the day.. what is going on? I know three isn't anything in some areas but when you live in the middle of nowhere like I do, it's slightly worrying. Don't know. Maybe the warm May has made people careless.

This weather has made me realize I own absolutely no summer clothes. I own about two shirts and one nice skirt. Baerh.. My wardrobe needs a makeover. Now if only mum would win the lottery.

Suvi and me entertained ourselves with cookies and The Making of Everybody (Backstreet's Back) video. Yes, it would be one of the gems included in the wonder that is my VHS collection from the 9th grade.. Heh. I remembered it was funny but I think I've laughed at entirely different things when I was 15 or 16. Now it was absolutely hilarious. "Woooo! Is that supposed to be funny? .. aeeerh! And look at Brian's nose! Why didn't anyone take care of Nick's hair problem, see how the roots are showing!!"

Howie's way, way uncool.

Then I played All I Have To Give the conversation mix to Suvi because I am convinced that any person who's ever liked the Backstreet Boys, even if momentarily, should have heard it at least one. Jebus. Why was it ever done? Who in the world thought it would be a good idea? Not only is it tacky, it is also unbeliavably bad. "Yo, why you gotta diss me like that for?"

Definitely not a bad way to spend a Tuesday evening. Not that I'd do this any more often. I think I can manage another four years without the video now. And preferably the rest of my life without the conversation mix.

Sun is shining. And as a result of that and me walking to the town centre three times and once back in the past three days, I freckle. I love my freckles. I wish I had more.

Good layout day. I've been revamping the KTN website today and if I get a permission from Mika to purchase a domain, everything should be done in a few days. I've had the idea for the layout since before Christmas but haven't been motivated enough to actually do it. Now when they asked me to, it's fun.

More happy things: No re-sits ahead so far! I think I did quite well in the grammar exam and it turns out I didn't only pass the British Studies one, I was left one point from 2+. Where is all this luck coming from? Not that I mind. It just amazes me.

Titta and me ended up going to Palaveri on Friday. It was fun enough even though I have to admit I was slightly embarrassed. We were very loud, us two. And it was the traditional girls-night-out-after-two-bottles-of-wine-talk..

Hanna: Blah blah.. and Bono is simply sex on legs!
Woman: *snicker* *glare*
Hanna: That is no brainchild of mine. It is borrowed wisdom.
Woman: *glare*
Hanna: Whatever.

(wisdom credit goes to Ríka)

We made all these stupid lists (two copies of each) and now I don't know whether to throw them away in my embarrassement or treasure them forever.

We also went to see Bowling For Columbine on Saturday - finally I've seen it! I'm not quite sure what to think. It was worth seeing, definitely. It is amazing how, at first, you can laugh at the stupidness of all and then cry because you can't really believe or understand what you are seeing.

But I never want to see another Charlton Heston film again.

We also rented Down With Love so the day wouldn't be too rough. Worked like a charm. I loved it! Titta kept nodding off all through the film, not because she found it boring but because she didn't really sleep well the previous night. I don't think it's one of the romantic comedies I'd watch over and over again but as one-timer is was splendid. And I cannot believe I just used the word splendid. I might as well said "marvellous". o_O

Do I want to try the new Gmail?
